I'm The Local Constable

by Miss Melanie

"...No. [Miss Melanie laughs hard.]  I don't have to be on horseback.  Yeah, it's interesting how that came about.  I do a lot of work with police reform, mental health reform, and anti-racism.

And so as part of that, I decided I would run for a law enforcement position and go through all the training and kind of be in it -- but not necessarily of it.

In Pennsylvania -- 'cause everywhere is different -- we serve at the pleasure of the court, which is an odd way of saying you can serve papers.  Some constablez serve eviction notices -- that's not my jam.  What else?  I can do mental health transports which is part of the reason I got involved.  Prisoner transport.  Levies on property.

No, it'd be really rad if I rode a horse.  But, I have to pay for everything myself.  So I can't afford a horse..."
